Hip Hop for Obama...or lack thereof???

There was no warmer embrace by the Hip Hop community for a presidential candidate than the one given to then Senator Barack Obama back in 2008. For the first time the urban community seemed to actually care about who would be residing at the historical address of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Campaign endorsed t-shirts like Ba-Rack the Vote along with various Obama pins became as essential to the style of Hip Hop as a clock is to Flavor Flav, plus we all can't forget about Young Jeezy's classic Political Street Anthem "My President is Black" can we?

Unfortunately it seems we have. Despite being undeniably infatuated by the image of seeing a black man as commander in chief along with the captivating speeches in which he's given, it seems difficult to comprehend why the same enthusiasm hasn't been shown during his run for a 2nd term in the year 2012.

In spite of the daunting task he inherited upon his election, its apparent that many believed the president was supposed to come into office and save the world, along with the belief they were owed something because of sharing a particular race in common, who knows but regardless of it do i believe that in this political relationship Hip Hop is ready to divorce Barack Obama to do a four year courtship with Mitt Romney...Heeeellllll Nooooo! But what i would like to know is where's the love that was shown in 08 in 2012

  1. The Hip Hop community tends to portray a population of people who quickly gets tired of the same old thing. The mentality to always get something new is embedded deep within their mind, whether it's a new car, house, girl, etc. etc. The community is probably over the "hype", bored, no longer interested cause that was so four years ago or better yet, desiring something new.
